Our Philosophy: Software Should Be Simple

| By The Tenth Gear Lab Team

Join us on the quest to simplify the small business tools.

Do less - but well.

A wonderful new tool emerges, gains a major following, then starts adding more features, increases costs, and before you can blink, turns into giant bloated expensive dinosaurs it was trying to replace.

Some of that bloat is caused by trying to be generic “one solution for absolutely everybody”. But also desire for uncontrollable growth and investment returns, empire building, quest to capture more lucrative enterprise markets - and many other reasons.

This approach disproportionally affects small businesses.

When Feature Rich Is Not a Benefit

Large companies and small businesses have different needs. Too many features often means:

  • Complex setup that requires understanding of what each option does
  • Complex UI to navigate interface
  • Bugs since there are too many ways of accomplishing the same tasks
  • Increasing license or subscription fees since the software now costs more to develop
  • Required employee training to use the software efficiently or correctly
  • Infrastructure demands - more powerful software means more expensive servers

Change Has a Cost

Your team figured out a flow that works for you - and then a new version is released and everything changes. New (or moved) menu options, different ways to to something. If you are lucky it’s just a matter of retraining the muscle click memory to adjust - but often a training is required to relearn the tool.

New can be better. But the true cost of adaptation and whether the ‘benefit’ truly outweighs the disruption is often severely underestimated.

Simple is Better

We think small business solutions should be simple. We design our tools to be:

  • Easy to understand without training
  • Mastered to do one thing - well
  • Simple to maintain, support and manage
  • Stable with predictable costs
  • Flexible via add-ons instead of complete overhauls

Why Simple Works Better For Small Businesses

Your team deserves simple solutions. They are busy running the business - why ask them to retrain on a new tool?

You use 100% of the tool you paid for. Why invest in a bloated system packed with features you’ll never touch?

You don’t get hit with surprise bills. Subscriptions had been going up (someone has to pay for AI and often that someone is you - whatever or not you need it in this particular software)

When things break, they are easy to fix. You know how the solution works and don’t need expensive consultants to troubleshoot your setup or your bills.

Software that simply works, letting you to focus on your business and not on managing the tool itself. Undemanding of your attention, your wallet, and your energy.

Just as it should be.
